Averleigh's Birth Story

I love photographing births because they are all so different. Every time I go into a delivery room, I get an excited nervousness in my stomach that reminds me of each of my own labors. These sweet clients had already been writing a unique birth story before they ever walked into the hospital. Just a year ago, they adopted a newborn, making a combined 5 children in their blended family ranging in age from newborn to 17. Tuesday, miracle number six was born.
Averleigh's mom was planning to have traditional delivery, just as she had with her previous children, but baby girl had other plans. While a C-Section wasn't what anyone expected or wanted, it turned out beautiful and produced a healthy mom and baby. Before mom went back to the OR, I told her that the whole point of birth photography was to tell the story of the way each baby is born, and I was going to do everything I could to make sure her whole story was told. After having asked several nurses and a doctor, I finally found a willing nurse anesthetist to take my camera into the OR to snap some pictures for me to edit later. She did an AMAZING job, and I wish I had caught her name because she was so kind. And the best thing about her was she really seemed to "get it". That even though this was technically a surgery, it was Averleigh's birth story. One totally unique to her and her parents.
I am so thankful they allowed me to be there to capture these special moments. Congratulations, guys! I am so happy for you all! Enjoy your preview!

Jake & Jolanda

Last month, Jake and Jolanda got married. It was a little different from your average wedding, though, because they were already legally married. Being that they both were in the military when they got married several years ago, they never had the chance to share their day with family and friends. I was so excited when Jo reached out about me doing the pictures because I've known her since we were elementary age and I love getting back in touch with people from childhood! One of the sweetest parts of their story is that they have a little boy, Jake, who is ADORABLE and got to be their ring bearer. I hope they love their pictures as much as I loved taking them. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Seibold! May God bless your sweet family as you start the next part of your journey!!
